My Second Act

My name is Lisa Advent, and this life of portrait photography I’m living is my second act, it seems this is the life I feel I’ve been preparing for all along.

For decades, I poured my heart into raising my family and homeschooling our children all the way through high school, a part of my life I consider my greatest gift. We’ve faced job loss, heart transplant, accidents, and more than a few curveballs along the way. Through it all, I studied this craft I love and learned about connection, using light to empower, and simply life. That season rooted my family deeply in legacy, purpose, and love.

Those years taught me to look into the shadows and find the light: to notice beauty in the quiet, the ordinary, and the in-between moments that make life sacred.

It was during that time that I discovered Sue Bryce and the art of portrait photography. Her work spoke to me in a way nothing else ever had. That’s when I began to study her craft, found my purpose, and began preparing myself for this second act, a life built on what I already knew: connection, light, and legacy.

Through my lens, I strive to bring that same connection and light into every portrait to tell your story.
